Drontal® – available at Wyn Ellis – is a wormer that can kill every type of worm in cats and dogs in the UK.

When our pets go outside, they become more susceptible to worms. This happens when our pets eat the worm eggs which could be anywhere. Dogs normally do this when they eat something off of the ground. For cats, they normally contract worms when hunting their prey. Even indoor house cats or dogs can contract worms by eating flies that find their way into your home.

When a mother has puppies, if she is infected with a type of worm, the eggs can be passed down through the milk and infect the puppies. Nearly all cases of round worm in puppies occur this way.

When in the early stages of a worm infection, your pet may show few if any signs of infection. If it is left untreated, you may notice some of the following symptoms:

  • Loss of appetite
  • Vomiting
  • Pot-Belly (common in puppies and kittens)
  • Dull coat
  • Scooting (dragging of bottom across the floor)
  • Diarrhoea
  • Excessive bottom cleaning

It is important to remember that even if your pet is not showing any of these signs, they may still be infected. They will remain hidden in your pets gut and once they have reached the gut, they will feed on the pet’s blood. This can be a serious health problem for the pet if left untreated.
